Mission Statement

King’s Coalition for Abolition exists for the purpose of seeing abortion eradicated in the State of Maine. We are seeking an end to the sacrifice of children in this State explicitly as Christians and as the Church. We seek to conquer this foe the same way that God conquered us; that is through the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His scriptures. We seek to partner with other Christians and churches, work with legislators and engage in boots on the ground ministry among other strategies to put an end to abortion in our State. We are not seeking mere regulatory action, but are proclaiming Christ’s lordship over this issue and therefore are seeking a law of equal protection for the human in the womb so that they are granted the same protection as the human outside the womb. We are seeking the abolition of abortion much the same way that Christians many years ago demanded the abolition of slavery.

“Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil, learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.”

-Isaiah 1:16-28

Thesis

  1. We believe that God created man in His own image as a special creature distinct from the rest of His creation. (Genesis 1:26, 2:7, 3:22)

  2. Because mankind is created in the image of God, life is sacred. Not only should innocent human life be protected, but it is found to be a moral imperative in scripture to ensure the life of the innocent. This is made abundantly clear in the case law system that is found in the old testament, and Christ made this point plainly when He said the law is summarized as love God and love neighbor. (Psalm 139:13-16, Leviticus 18:21, Exodus 20:1-20, 21:22-25, Psalm 106:36-39, Matthew 22:37-39).

  3. As sinners saved by God we have a duty to live lives of consistent obedience to His word, act as salt and light in the world and to preach His gospel to all people everywhere as well as prophetically proclaim all the truths of His scriptures. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Psalm 1:1-2, James 1:22-25, Matthew 3:2, 4:17, 5:13-16, 2 Timothy 3:16, 4:1-2).

  4. Ultimately, we recognize that our fight is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces. Therefore, our primary weapons of warfare in this fight are modeled after the apostles and what the Bible teaches us regarding spiritual warfare. We must preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, command all men everywhere to repent, proclaim the truth of God’s word to the culture, pray without ceasing and always be ready to give an answer for the faith that is within us (2 Corinthians 10:3-6, 1 Corinthians 2:2, Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38, 17:30, Matthew 14:1-12, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Revelation 5:8, 1 Peter 3:15).

  5. A matter of primary importance that we will and must always keep in focus is the sufficiency of Christ’s sacrifice to atone for the sin of abortion. Christ is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to Him (Hebrews 7:25, 1 Timothy 1:15-17, Matthew 11:28-30).
